Jewish Democratic and Jewish Republican agreement that slows pace of change to Israel-Palestine final status peace

This tweet from a prolific accountholder on twitter and post.news deserves a longer reply than either character-capped platform allows.  Forced concision is sometimes not a good thing for civil political discourse.  Direct interaction is sometimes not a good thing even to engage with others, in an audience to disagreement, either.

There are only 2 @GOP members in Congress who are Jewish
You know why?
We pay attention
@HouseGOP will rue the day they waged war against women & people of color in Congress
They will not hold back & will expose their lies, hypocrisy & BS

Jewish Democrats don’t need Jewish Republicans Max Miller-OH David Kustoff-TN and Jew-ish liar George Santos NY.   Other Jewish Republican House members in the last 15 years included Lee Zeldin R-NY and Eric Cantor R-VA.  Much resistance to the tendency to exceptionalize Palestinian rights (actually liberal zionist or Progressive Except Palestine) has emerged but is muzzled in 'mainstream' political discourse as 'too extreme' or 'far left.' H. Resolution 326 was introduced to state the support of the House of Reps in 2021 for a negotiated two state solution commented on here by JVP Action

This morning, the House of Representatives passed H.Res 326, a hollow and weak resolution that only perpetuates the unjust status quo in Israel/Palestine and provides cover for Israel’s ongoing violations of Palestinian rights. Beth Miller, JVP Action’s Senior Government Affairs Manager said:

If we want to create the conditions for lasting peace, equality, and justice for all, Congress must embrace a rights-based approach over a predetermined political solution. Instead, H.Res 326 focuses on a two-state solution without acknowledging Israel’s decades-long military occupation, its ongoing violations of Palestinian human rights, or our own government’s role in maintaining the unjust status quo, all of which impede any chance of achieving a just and lasting peace. Today’s resolution sends a message that Congress is entirely unwilling to truly hold Israel accountable for its systematic violations of Palestinian human rights.

“As Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib stated on the House floor this morning, ‘We cannot be honest brokers for peace if we refuse to use the words ‘illegal occupation by Israel’… We must take bolder actions to ensure that human rights are upheld in Israel, and that Palestinians and Black Israelis are treated with the equality every human being deserves.’ We are grateful for progressive leaders in Congress who demonstrated today what it looks like to lead with values and center human rights, including Reps. Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Betty McCollum, and Chuy Garcia.”

with HR 5344 conditioning $3.8 Billion per year in military aid to Israel on policies supporting a negotiated 2 state solution.  Andy Levin who introduced HR5344 lost his primary amidst an avalanche of DMFI and UDP spending with JDCA voter engagement supporting Haley Stevens who was elected in November 2022.  The muzzling of discourse about a rights-based approach rather than a pre-determined two state approach costs lives of both Israelis and Palestinians by delaying negotiations with mediators with the end goal of a final status peace.  The 'peace process' from 1993 to 2001 and 2013-14 is dead and new possibilities need to be explored.
